About the Role (This is a Test Position, Please don't Apply)

Swartek is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support large-scale data modernization and analytics initiatives across our federal customer environments. The ideal candidate has strong experience designing secure data pipelines, implementing data governance frameworks, and working with cloud-native technologies.

You will work alongside cloud architects, data scientists, and application teams to modernize legacy systems, improve data quality, and enable AI-driven mission support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT frameworks
  • Develop data models, metadata layers, and governance structures aligned to federal standards
  • Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into cloud and hybrid environments
  • Support the development of dashboards, analytics solutions, and AI/ML pipelines
  • Implement security, access, and quality controls for sensitive government datasets
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and DevSecOps teams on modernization initiatives
  • Troubleshoot data issues, optimize workloads, and ensure reliability in production environments

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical role
  • Expertise with SQL, Python, and ETL frameworks
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (GovCloud experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, lakehouse concepts, and metadata management
  • Knowledge of API integrations and real-time data streaming
  • Understanding of federal data security requirements (NIST, FedRAMP preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to document and communicate solutions clearly

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML pipelines
  • Exposure to DevSecOps workflows
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or public-sector programs
